Festival for Farley
Festival for Farley is a non-profit charitable event aimed toward raising money for the Nicholas A. Farley Charitable Fund Inc., while celebrating the life of Nick Farley, a great son, brother, friend, and leader. Nick lived a life of love, and devotion toward his family, friends, and the countless people whom he encountered along the way. Nick’s compassion, his sense of humor, his honesty, and his strength are only some of the qualities that combined to make him a truly great young man, and these qualities will also serve to define what the Festival for Farley is all about.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Nick Farley were familiar with his passion for three things: music, sports, and learning. Festival for Farley's vision is to incorporate these three passions of Nick’s into one fun filled day on June 21, 2008 at the field of Oliver Ames High School at 10:00AM. The Festival for Farley includes a competitive volleyball tournament, a barbeque, and a live concert featuring great local bands and artists. All proceeds, registration fees for the tournament, personal donations, and business sponsorships will fund this scholarship which was created by Nick’s family.
The goal of the Nicholas A. Farley Charitable Fund Inc. is to provide financial support for the enrollment of qualified applicants to the Carroll School, and ultimately the ability to fund full scholarships for children in need. Funding will also work to provide dyslexic students within the Easton community with an audio library of required readings and other forms of assistive technology.
Nick was a student at the Carroll School from 1998 to 2001. This unique institution is one of few renowned and privately funded schools for students with dyslexia. “The Carroll School is dedicated to meeting the educational needs of children diagnosed with language-based learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, and to supporting the constituencies that serve them. Carroll seeks a culturally, ethnically, and economically diverse population and is an active public champion for persons with learning disabilities.”
While in his senior year at Oliver Ames High School, Nick was voted by his peers as “Most Likely to Change the World.” Although Nick is no longer with us, this does not mean that he can no longer effect change. With your financial contributions, the Festival for Farley will help fund the Nicholas A. Farley Charitable Fund Inc., which will continue to do the good work Nick had begun and help young people in need realize the talent and opportunity for greatness they possess.
